Responsibilities
- Review and process authorization requests from healthcare providers for various medical services.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility through effective communication with insurance companies.
- Utilize medical coding knowledge, including ICD-10, to ensure accurate documentation and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of managed care policies and procedures to facilitate efficient authorization processes.
- Collaborate with office staff to gather necessary documentation for authorization submissions.
- Follow up on outstanding authorization requests and resolve any issues that may arise during the process.
- Document all interactions and maintain accurate records in the medical records system.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries regarding authorizations and insurance coverage.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or dental office setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical coding practices, particularly ICD-10, is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of insurance verification processes and managed care systems.
- Proficient in medical terminology to effectively communicate with healthcare professionals and insurance representatives.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
