Quality Control Inspector / Technician

Advantage Steel & Construction in Saxonburg is looking to hire a Quality Control Technician to join our first-class team.

The Quality Control Inspector / Technician will work day shift from 7:00 am 3:30 pm in the Saxonburg, PA office/shop.

Quality Control Technician Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with AISC, ASTM and AWS standards and according to quality standards of the company Quality Control Manual;
• Assist in fostering a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement;
• Facilitate and/or assist in the qualification of welding personnel;
• Perform and document in-process, final and NDE inspections;
• Assist in the documentation of equipment maintenance and calibration.

Quality Control Technician Requirements:

• HS Diploma or equivalent required; Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
• At least 5 years of previous work experience in an AWS, AISC, ASME, API fabrication environment;
• Exceptional knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code - Steel, and AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code;
• Current NDE certifications of Liquid Penetrant (PT)
• A valid driver's license;
• Ability to pass initial and random drug & alcohol screenings;

Qualifications:

• 2-year post-secondary in a trade-related discipline;
• Exceptional knowledge of welding processes: SMAW, FCAW, and SAW;
• Knowledge of AISC/SSPC surface preparation & coating application inspection;
• Ability to interpret and provide instruction to employees the implications of a welding procedure specification (WPS);
• Magnetic Particle (MT) & Ultrasonic Testing (UT) certifications;
• Strong ability to read fabrication shop drawings;
• Strong communication, organization, and problem solving abilities;
• Strong knowledge of computer word-processing, spreadsheet, data entry and electronic messaging software;

Safety

This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects. Project sites contain various safety hazards associated with heavy construction. This position may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position may also entail project site work at night and on weekends on an as needed basis. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
