POSITION Description :
- To provide installation, maintenance and support of Data Center operations and customer related services. Duties involve maintaining optimally controlled environments for server operations. This includes but is not limited to the mechanical and electrical control systems, access control system, video monitoring and recording system, cross connect systems and building safety control systems.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Assures adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety rules.May serve as on-site point of contact. Acts as a customer liaison to identify unmet needs.Participates in the development and updating of maintenance processes and procedures for operations, system troubleshooting, testing and maintenance functions. This includes electrical, mechanical, cross-connect, building management, security, video, and building safety systems.May oversee contractor activities to ensure customer satisfaction and reliable day-to-day operations are achieved. A high degree of detail and frequent follow-up, at various levels is required.This position works closely with other Client Data Center employees, Client employees, Customer and Carriers.Responsible for site maintenance and documentation, including but not limited to Method of Procedures (MoPS), testing acceptance, cross connect / port assignments, Building Management System (BMS), Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system, access control system, internal network and customer cross connect services.Conduct generator run and load tests, including event log entries.Conduct daily site walkthroughs including event log entries.Coordinate and perform company and customer hardware and software installations, software testing and acceptance, and structured wiring.Monitor, analyze and resolve mechanical, electrical, and monitoring issues in a timely manner with minimal supervision and guidance.Residency RequirementPreferable reside within a 30 mile radius of the Bluebird Quad City Data Center.SkillsExcellent listening, oral, and written communication skills with a proactive approach to customer support and service with an outgoing, approachable, and friendly personality.Ability to follow procedures, handle concurrent assignments, able to work effectively under pressure.Self-motivated with the ability to make sound decisions under minimal supervision.Lifting up to to 50lbs.Nonsmoking facility.Required Knowledge and Experience :
Computer / PC skills (Windows, Linux is a plus)Attention to detailTroubleshooting skillsBasic network skills (routing, switching, Ethernet, RJ45, fiber)Desired Knowledge and Experience :
Familiarity with mechanical, electrical and network systems specifically used in the data center industry.Previous Operations, Maintenance, and Repair experience in a 24x7 operating environment.Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems with diagnostics and a technical aptitude / proficiency.Familiarity with Building Management System (BMS) and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system.Knowledge in enterprise servers and networking equipment.SummaryThis position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, monitoring, and site documentation for the Bluebird Network Optical / DWDM, IP / MPLS and Microwave network, and assisting in data center applications infrastructure and maintenance operations.
This position works closely with other employees, member companies, offnet providers, customers and equipment vendors.
