Lab Field Technician / Scientist


Contract: 6 to 9 months (could extend)


Location: Houston, TX


Job Summary:


We are seeking a Lab and Field Technician/Scientist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in both laboratory and field testing, with a strong technical background in chemistry and oil and gas applications. This role requires hands-on expertise with analytical equipment, the ability to follow testing protocols as directed by subject matter experts (SMEs), and a willingness to travel as needed.


Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct laboratory and field testing following established test methods and procedures.


• Operate and maintain analytical equipment commonly used in the oil and gas industry.


• Follow instructions from SMEs to execute testing protocols accurately and efficiently.


• Collect, analyze, and report data from laboratory and field tests.


• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in both lab and field environments.


• Maintain detailed records of test results and methodologies.


• Travel to field locations as required for on-site testing and sample collection.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, or a related technical field.


• Experience: Prior experience with laboratory testing and field testing, preferably in oil and gas or a related industry. 2-7 years' experience in this setting


• Technical Skills:




• Proficiency in analytical methods and techniques.


• Ability to interpret and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).




• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.


• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.


• Willingness to travel as required (up to 40% of time)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in oil and gas laboratories or field environments. Testing experience in:




• Produced water and


• water clarification


• Biocides


• Frac and completions testing.


• Formulation testing




• Knowledge of industry regulations and safety protocols.


• Familiarity with environmental or petroleum-based testing methods.
