Senior Electrical Engineer
Position Type: Direct Hire
Position Location: Reading, PA
Position Salary: $170,000 - $200,000 (Depending on Experience)
Responsibilities:
- Work as a Sr. Electrical Engineer, PE, to grow our electrical engineering services.
- Conduct comprehensive power system studies, short-circuit studies, protective device coordination including load flow, Arc-flash analysis, motor starting, power factor correction, harmonic analysis, and grounding analysis.
- Configure and program microprocessor-based relays (e.g., SEL, GE Multilin) for critical generator, transformer and distribution systems.
- Develop detailed electrical diagrams such as one-lines, three-lines, and control schematics.
- Design and modify electrical distribution systems, including motor control centers (MCCs), switchgear, breakers, fuses, transformers, capacitor banks, current and potential transformers, protective relays, and control systems.
- Create, review, and revise complete electrical drawing packages and specifications.
- Lead engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Mentoring less experienced Electrical Engineers, in the support of our customers.
- Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and contractors to define project requirements and expectations.
- System Troubleshooting & Solutions.
- Diagnose electrical system issues and develop effective, practical solutions to resolve system deficiencies.
- Review and approve ongoing and completed engineering work; ensure that deadlines are met, and work is completed with accuracy and high quality.
- Ensure that electrical engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and studies are conducted according to IEEE and NFPA standards, and company excellence.
- Work with sales and support staff on the estimating and bidding of new projects; co-present project proposal to prospective customers.
- Make onsite visits to customer sites and/or interact with customers to gather critical information, resolve project issues, customer concerns, and review engineering plans
- Review and approve ongoing and completed engineering work ensuring deadlines are met, and work is completed with accuracy and high quality.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering; prefer educational focus in Power Systems.; Higher Education is a plus
- Professional engineer licensed (PE) is required for this role
- 7 years of engineering experience with power systems, preferably with protective relaying, system studies or system design
- Experience with low and medium-voltage equipment for power distribution; Protection and Control SEL Relay testing experience highly desired; prefer experience with or ability to quickly learn to write relay logic, including Schweitzer (SEL), Basler, GE, ABB, Siemens, etc.
- Field experience with substations or switchgear highly desirable; Utility design experience a plus
- Experience in applying the NEC, NFPA70E and local codes and in short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc-flash, motor starting and power quality studies.
- Experience using power system software such as SKM, ETAP, ASPEN, Easy Power, or other power system modeling software. Design experience using AutoCAD is a plus.
- Previous supervisory or project leadership experience a plus.
- Must have a strong understanding of project plans, specifications, technical writing skills, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Must have Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Be available for periodic domestic travel as is needed
