What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional (DSP) position at Advantage Working Solutions?
Advantage Working Solutions is currently hiring a part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP). The Direct Support professional works with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their home and in the community to support the clients in developing their skills to be able to have proper self-care, monetary and budget skills, participate in community and cultural activities, and understanding of potential safety hazards in their surroundings.
Duties and Responsibilities May Include:
· Assisting clients with housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, washing dishes, and keeping their personal space picked up
· Helping to create meal lists and grocery lists and assisting with meal preparation
· Support clients in planning and organizing appointments/schedule
· Assisting with budgeting and developing skills to understand banking system and processes both online and in the community
· Organizing transportation arrangements to appointments
· Supporting community participation including helping the client create skills to use available community resources, improving self-awareness and self-control
· Support with communication both verbally and non-verbally in the community
· Assist in developing skills to find and participate in activities that involve the broader community; develop skills necessary to initiate, plan and engage in activities alone or with others
· Support client’s participation in clubs, associations, and organizations as members
REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be at least 18 years of age
· At least 1 year of previous Direct Support Professional experience
· Completed at least Tier 1 of DSP certification courses. Completion of Tier 1 & Tier 2 certification courses preferred.
· Ability to pass a criminal history background check
· Current Oregon Driver’s license with a clean driving record and current insurance/registration
