Responsibilities:
What You'll Do:
- Provide heartfelt spiritual support to patients and families, honoring their unique beliefs and values.
- Work alongside our amazing team of staff, clergy, and community partners to address the spiritual needs of those navigating terminal illness and loss.
- Be a key voice at interdisciplinary team meetings, sharing insights into patients' and families' spiritual well-being.
- Offer comforting bereavement, follow-up care, and support to families after a loss.
- Keep compassionate and accurate records of your visits and interactions.
- Stay connected with clergy or spiritual leaders to ensure that patient’s needs are met.
- Lead or assist with memorial services and offer emotional support as requested.
- Plan and host funeral or memorial services, bringing solace to families when needed.
- Build and nurture relationships with clergy to create a strong referral network for specialized spiritual care.
- Be available for on-call spiritual services, offering your presence when it is needed most.
- Create and deliver educational programs to help local clergy and spiritual leaders support our patients and their families.
- Be flexible, creative, and approachable as you help meet the ever-evolving needs of those we serve.
What We’re Looking For:
- Education: A graduate of an accredited seminary or theology school, or certification in hospital or pastoral ministry.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a chaplain or spiritual counselor preferred. Direct patient contact in the last three years is a plus!
- Skills & Qualities: You are someone who can work independently, think on your feet, and connect deeply with people from all walks of life. You’re sensitive, adaptable, and respectful of different cultural and religious beliefs. Your heart is as big as your ability to communicate with warmth and care.
