About this Role:
Advantech is seeking a motivated and talented Technical Project Manager to join our team for a six month contract in our Downers Grove, IL office. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of engineering and program management while working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
As a Junior TPM, you will assist in managing multiple projects across cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and program management, with exposure to both technical and customer-facing activities. You will collaborate with global teams in the US, Taiwan, and China to drive favorable project outcomes and gain insight into the product lifecycle for cutting-edge industrial and embedded systems solutions.
The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter with a passion for learning and problem-solving with a technical educational background. You should be detail-oriented, customer-focused, and possess strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. This is a six-month contract designed to provide hands-on experience and meaningful contributions to our team. If you have demonstrated exceptional performance, there may be an opportunity to transition into a full-time role at the end of the program. Responsibilities:
- Shadow the TPM Manager during customer interactions to understand project requirements and deliverables.
- Collaborate with Key Account Managers, Product Managers and Application Engineers, to address customer questions and issues promptly.
- Interface with Advantech factory personnel in Taiwan R&D and US-based teams to deliver timely solutions
- Assist in managing project schedules and deliverables to ensure alignment with established timelines.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including meeting minutes, status reports, and project plans.
- Track project metrics, risks, and issues, identifying areas that require attention and escalation as needed.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, sales, and product management, to support project objectives.
- Participate in internal and external meetings, capturing action items and following up to ensure completion.
- Communicate updates effectively to the TPM Manager and relevant stakeholders.
- Create reports and presentations to provide insights on project progress and performance.
- Document all customer interactions and project updates in a project management tracking tool.
- Learn and apply technical concepts related to embedded systems, industrial PCs, and manufacturing processes.
- Support the implementation of tools and templates to enhance team efficiency and workflow.
- Leverage strong time management skills to balance multiple customer projects and priorities.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, an Associates or Bachelor’s degree program in a technical field such as Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or 2-years of relative professional experience.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Basic understanding of embedded systems, industrial PC hardware/software, and technical concepts such as schematics, layouts, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- General familiarity with engineering and/or project management methodologies such as Agile or Scrum.
