About this position:
The Senior Benefits Analyst is responsible for the administration, analysis, and enhancement of the organization's employee benefits programs, including health, welfare, retirement, and wellness initiatives. This role involves strategic planning, compliance assurance, and providing expert guidance to both employees and management to ensure the benefits offerings are competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with organizational objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and optimize daily benefits operations, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and retirement plans, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and seamless employee experience.
- Lead the annual open enrollment process, develop strategic communication materials, coordinating informational sessions, and ensuring a smooth, well-executed enrollment.
- Manage the accurate and timely processing of benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations, conducting regular audits to ensure compliance, resolve discrepancies, and enhance data integrity.
- Analyze benefits data to assess plan performance, identify trends, and recommend enhancements, ensuring cost-effective and competitive offerings aligned with organizational goals.
- Conduct comprehensive benchmarking studies to evaluate market competitiveness, inform decision-making, and optimize benefits strategies.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including ERISA, COBRA, ACA, and HIPAA, proactively monitoring legislative changes and implementing necessary updates.
- Maintain and update plan documents, SPDs, and required regulatory notices, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and clear communication to employees and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with brokers, carriers, and vendors to negotiate plan terms, premiums, and service agreements, securing high-quality, cost-effective benefits solutions.
- Monitor vendor performance and enforce service-level agreements (SLAs), proactively addressing issues and driving continuous improvements in benefits administration.
- Serve as a trusted subject matter expert on employee benefits, providing guidance, resolving complex inquiries, and enhancing the employee experience through proactive education and support.
- Develop and implement strategic communication initiatives to increase employee awareness, engagement, and appreciation of benefits offerings across multiple communication channels.
- Work closely with payroll, finance, and HRIS teams to ensure seamless benefits processing and accurate insurance reconciliations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field required.
- CEBS, PHR, or SHRM-CP Certification preferred.
- 5 years of experience in benefits administration, including at least 2 years in a senior or analyst role.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data analysis functions.
- Experience in LOA management and workers’ compensation administration.
- Proficiency in HRIS platforms, with the ability to learn new systems quickly; experience with Paycor preferred but not required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex benefits data.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
