Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate, degree preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Mobility to work in a typical treatment plant, pump station, or related maintenance setting, including operating typical trade equipment, hand and power tools, and standard office equipment.
- Stamina to stand, walk, and climb and to work in confined or awkward spaces for an extended period; strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over a radio or telephone.
- Work is subject to exposure to extreme weather conditions, sewage, hazardous chemicals, electrical currents, gases, dust, noxious odors, and heights exceeding 10 feet.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Operates wastewater systems.
- Performs routine to complex tasks associated with utility equipment. This includes lubrication; cleaning; adjustment of pumps, valves, and fluid levels; and recording and logging test results, gauge readings, and observed conditions.
- Performs cleaning/inspections of all the wastewater pits, including checking level sensors, check valves, and strainers. Inspect all air diaphragm pumps, check the connections and clamps on the suction side of the pump, and inspect for cracked fittings.
- Monitors the flow of wastewater through the collections, treatment, and reuse systems.
- Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots the solids handling process, dewatering equipment, and chemical feed systems.
- Inspects and ensures proper equipment operations, such as meters, gauges, and instruments; reports and records any failures or operating difficulties.
- Monitors and maintains chemical/filter inventories.
- Prepares Quarterly Discharge Monitoring Samples; to ensure discharge is compliant with regulatory requirements and consistent with operational needs.
- Set up, operate, and oversee the PM of the filter press, which is used in liquid/solid separation.
- Initiates work orders, if needed.
- Checks job sites for potential hazards; ensures appropriate traffic control; understands and adheres to all applicable safety rules, regulations, practices, or procedures.
- Perform and/or assist with work on water systems and related equipment as necessary.
