What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Dockhand position at Advenco LLC?
Summary of Position:
Responsible for daily supervision of the dockhand staff, assisting Captains with tours, fueling boats, and managing buoy customers. Ensuring dock safety, maintenance of ticket/retail facilities and equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure proper daily opening and closing procedures
- Support the marina manager with ad hoc projects
- Manage and lead by example with the other dockhands
- Process and maintain daily manifests, accounting and retail sales reports
- Report and manage any incidents in a timely manner
- Ensure staff are boarding/disembarking passengers in a safe and timely manner
- Operate support skiffs, tractor and other equipment as requested in a safe and responsible manner
- Ensure proper fueling procedures (Amount required to transfer daily) adhering to all safety procedures. Recording on proper ExplorUS and NPS forms
- Assist other Dockhands with securing boats to docks
- Assist Boat Captains and NPS personnel as necessary
- Safely maneuver hose lines for refueling of tour boats
- Other duties as requested
Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds, winch skiffs and outboard motors in and out of the water
- Possess line handling skills including ability to tie various knots, toss and cleat lines
- Possess ability to swim and work safely around water and boats
- Must be able to bend, twist, squat and stand on feet for up to 8 hours per day
Education and Experience:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience: Minimum one (1) year customer service experience
Prior dockhand experience preferred
