The role you’ll contribute:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Radiation Oncology Department is responsible for providing and supervising both direct and indirect total nursing care to age-specific groups, utilizing the nursing process which includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating. This role requires a cancer-specific knowledge base and clinical expertise in cancer care, particularly in administering nursing care to patients receiving Radiation Therapy. The RN operates under the direction of the physician and/or department manager in compliance with established standards, protocols, and the goals and objectives of the healthcare facility. This position adheres to the Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies, ensuring adherence to Radiation Oncology Standards of Procedures/Work Instructions. The RN actively participates in providing outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all, demonstrating medical-surgical nursing skills alongside their specialized knowledge in oncology care.

- Performs properly, legibly documents and reports all procedures and assessments in accordance with department policy.
- Obtains or delegates the obtaining of a nursing history. Evaluates for age-appropriate behavior motor skills and physiological norms of the patient. Completes the admission assessment, including pain screening. Complete all follow-up assessments and evaluations. Assesses for signs of abuse or neglect.
- Evaluates patients’ developmental level, identifies increased physical/emotional dependency needs and evaluates availability of support system consistent with the age of the patient served.
- Performs treatments and administers medications, identifies needs and plan of care, functions appropriately in clinical emergencies, evaluates effectiveness of interventions, interprets and verifies physician orders correctly, investigates questionable situations. Takes clinical and operational direction from the Outpatient Nurse Manager.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :
Minimum qualifications :
- Associate's of Nursing
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure
- BCLS - Basic Life Support
- ACLS
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's of Nursing
- One plus year of professional nursing experience
- Oncology experience
