The Role You’ll Contribute

The Epic Clinical Team Supervisor has a comprehensive understanding of system build and implementation, the ability to analyze and understand business problems, and the knowledge to make solution recommendations that meet the organizational goals of maintaining clinical, revenue cycle and business systems. They provide a secure, effective, integrated patient care delivery system that continually improves outcomes, reduces cost, increases efficiency, and enhances patients' experiences.

The Epic Clinical Team Supervisor must utilize the knowledge of clinical, revenue cycle and business practice, computer science, and information technology to manage data and determine components that are suitable to build while maintaining alignment with the professional standards of practice. They are responsible for coordinating with physicians and end users in the analysis and documentation of workflows, performing gap analysis, identifying needed process changes, and developing future workflows during the implementation of new solutions or functionality. The ability to communicate with all levels of hospital Leadership, clinicians, physicians, and ancillary department staff is essential for this position.

The Epic Clinical Team Supervisor Leads a Team Of Analysts That Design, Build, Implement, Support, And Test Multiple Epic And/or 3rd Party Applications Including But Not Limited To The Following

• Working with the team manager, provides direct application team oversight and management to deliver IT services
• Provides guidance and act as a resource for other analysts, project managers, and consultants
• Sets and measures performance objectives and provides regular one-on-one feedback to members of the team
• Evaluates the performance of direct reports, and provides ongoing coaching and staff development
• Addresses individual staff performance problems as needed

• Demonstrates proficiency or advanced functional knowledge of Epic, applicable third-party solutions, and the Microsoft suite of products
• Develops and maintain collaborative relationships with all stakeholders; meets with customers and sponsors to capture business & technical requirements
• Demonstrates knowledge of processes within the facility department; assesses workflow processes, identifies gaps, defines necessary process changes, and develops future workflows related to the implementation of new solutions or functionality
• Designs, builds and configures within assigned Epic system modules and any supporting third- party applications; develops and maintains system process documentation and outlines process steps using appropriate tools; identifies and implements requested changes to the system
• Designs and develops test scripts and materials for end-to-end workflow testing; Performs unit, system, and integration testing per standards, to include negative and regression testing; documents outcomes.
• Remains current on industry trends and vendor/application/system updates. Ensures that all software modifications/upgrades are working according to Epic specifications.
• Follows departmental standards for software configuration control, quality assurance and version releases; Provides documentation on system upgrades and new releases of Epic applications; provides training if required
• Troubleshoots issues or system deficiencies and initiates escalation procedures as required. Provides recommendations for resolution of the problems found
• Leads multiple cross-functional projects; Understands project planning and coordination methodologies using project management skills, tools, and Lean methodologies. Communicates project status of deliverables, shared issues, end-user concerns, budget, and upcoming milestones.
• Actively participates in and leads project, team, departmental and other meetings as required. Reports status updates, accomplishments, task and any barriers to manager.
• Oversees projects with minimal supervision to include the planning, design, execution and on-going monitor of activities to ensure successful completion and meeting of deadlines
• Acts as a super user of supported applications, trains and mentors new employees with some coaching
• Uses available tools and database knowledge to research and problem solve technical issues at an intermediate level
• Serves as a primary mentor, utilizes expertise in application logic, providing technical guidance and oversight, and a point of escalation and technical expert at an advanced level
• Functions as team/work group supervisor responsibilities to assist the manager in leading and carrying out team duties. Provides day to day coaching and guidance to team members and feedback to the team manager regarding team member performance. Performs additional Leadership duties as delegated by the team manager.
• Provides support as part of the on-call rotation and/or provides on call support for escalations of issues. Facilitates issue resolution and escalates with appropriate internal resources. Communicates and escalates application issues with vendors.
• Leads with minimal coaching the coordination, prioritization and assignment of customer requests. Solving complex problems in support of all levels of customers within organization.
• Accomplishes results by coaching, counseling, and facilitating performance management of employees. Plans, monitors, makes assignments, measures productivity, appraises job results; conducts training; implements new processes
• Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards, and adhering to legal regulations
• Provide timely feedback to direct reports and in conjunction with team manager provide career coaching and team growth
• Oversee teamwork queues and ensures they are assigned to team members; holds team accountable for timely processing and resolution of issues/requests within the AIT service management system.
  
  

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Knowledge And Experience Strongly Preferred

• Epic Certification or ability to complete certification within 3 months of completing classes
• Microsoft Office suite experience; proficient in PowerPoint and Visio presentations
• Experience leading teams and providing feedback
• Experience communicating complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience
• Demonstrated creative problem-solving approach and strong analytical skills
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
• Work with minimal guidance
• Rapid learner
• Advanced ability to manage multiple tasks and projects within deadline constraints
• Advanced knowledge of HL7 concepts and operating within an integrated healthcare applications environment
• Ability to work with no supervision
• Supervisor with prior leadership experience
  
  

Knowledge And Experience Preferred

• 5 years of clinical, revenue cycle, business or technical background preferred
• EMR application/implementation experience preferred.
• Knowledge of clinical/revenue cycle/business/technical workflow preferred
  
  

Education And Experience Required

• College Degree (A.S, B.A., B.S. or commensurate experience) in a field of study such as business, IS, or a healthcare related is required
• Yearly participation in ongoing education either formal or through conferences, active professional organization participation, or journal presentations.
• Epic Certification and/or proficiency of related application suite of products (within 3 months of completing classes)
• 5-years' experience documenting workflow design and identifying areas for improvement
