The role youll contribute :
The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner functions as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for inquiry, advocate for NPD specialty and partner for practice transitions as they guide the learner toward desired outcomes. The NPD Practitioner continuously uses environmental scanning to intentionally assess opportunities and challenges within and externally to the organization, and identifies opportunities based on global and national healthcare trends, legislative changes, needs of collaborative partners, educational gaps, emerging technologies, and the clinical staff members desire for growth. The NPD Practitioner actively interacts with learners to contribute to nursing professional development processes and ensures the achievement of measurable outcomes, influences professional role competence and growth of learners in a variety of settings.
Qualifications - External

Creates, plans, implements, and coordinates orientation for individuals new to the nursing unit / department using the NPD standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation with the NPD Practice model using inputs, throughputs, and outcomes to ensure a systematic approach to onboarding orientation.
Designs engaging, interactive, state of the art educational activities / plans rooted in adult learning principles; implements and coordinates activities related to clinical practice and lifelong career development. Integrates regulatory standards to meet the requirements for continuing education contact hours, when appropriate.
NPD Practitioner may assist others in their professional role development, practice role transitions, and succession planning.
Promotes a supportive environment for students by partnering with the academics department for student placement and a positive student experience within the unit / department.
Serves as a resource for clinical inquiry, including identification of potential projects, and / or subject matter expertise.
The expertise and experiences youll need to succeed :
Minimum qualifications :
Bachelors degree in nursing
Minimum two (2) years nursing experience
Current, valid Florida State of Nursing license as a registered professional nurse
Preferred qualifications :
Masters degree in nursing or related field
Prior experience as a preceptor / educator
