The role you’ll contribute:

• Utilizes knowledge and skill to care for the adult patient in a clinical setting.
• Documents essential history information and physical exam components that support the study protocol.
• Appropriate counsels, referrals and orders as documented on the record. Interprets diagnostic testing appropriately; refers abnormal results to physician for review when necessary.
• Appropriately refers to supervising physician or other healthcare providers when needed.
• Maintains an active presence in local and national chapters of professional associations.

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) supports the clinical operation of AdventHealth with primary focus on clinical services in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Inpatient Responsibilities include: Pre-operative admission, consultation, evaluation and medical optimization; Intra-Operative 1 st and 2 nd assistance; Post-operative ICU and floor patient care and discharge. Outpatient Responsibilities include: Pre & Post Operative clinic; Out-Of-Hospital patient clinical phone call management & Out-Of-Hospital operative call-in. Delivery of patient care will be conducted in collaboration with faculty surgeons and physicians.

Basic NP function includes, but is not limited to: Conduct of relevant health & medical history; Performance of physical examination; Collection, interpretation & recording of clinical data; Ordering/specimen collection for/interpretation of all relevant laboratory/microbiological tests; Ordering/interpretation of all relevant radiologic/US/MRI/NM studies; Ordering/performance of/interpretation of cardiac diagnostic testing; Development of treatment plans, Ordering medications; Address the pharmacologic needs of patients by CPOE/written/oral methods; Dispense & Administration of medications; Activity level designation; Performance of rounds and recording of computerized progress/consult/procedure notes; Participation in clinical & multidisciplinary rounds; Admission of patients at the direction of the supervising physician; Obtainment of informed consent for procedures performed by the NP; Consultation/Referral to other health professionals & community agencies; Provide relevant patient education and counseling regarding heath status, test results, disease process and discharge planning; Perform clinical responsibility within the NP’s level of training and scope of practice; Assist the collaborating physician in interventions in the interest of patient care/safety.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED :

• Thoracic anatomic and pathophysiologic knowledge
• Thoracic & critical care clinical management knowledge, with sound clinical judgement, decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Ability to self-direct and work with direct & indirect supervision
• Surgical 2nd assistance training & proficiency
• Inpatient surgical service cooperative participation skills
• Strong interpersonal and written & verbal communication skills.Ability to maintain effective relationships/flexibility with patients, families & all multidisciplinary team members
• Computer skills & ability to work effectively across multiple electronic medical record platforms
• Ability to work in a high-stress environment with effective time-management skills and adaptability to change
• Strong organizational, problem-solving and customer service skills, with a commitment to quality & safety
• Initiative to keep abreast of new information/products/developments within the specialty

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

• Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner program

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED _:_

• Critical care experience

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :

• State of Florida NP license
• Health Care Provider BLS(CPR)
• ACLS

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED _:_

• Acute Care Certification

• RNFA Certification
