The role you’ll contribute:
OurLegacy is designated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as the only organ procurement organization (OPO) in east central Florida and is accredited by the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) as a tissue recovery agency. OurLegacy's scope of operations extends to each of the following hospitals within the AdventHealth Hospital system: Altamonte, Apopka, Celebration, Daytona Beach, Deland, East Orlando, Fish Memorial, Kissimmee, New Smyrna Beach, Orlando, Palm Coast, Waterman and Winter Park. Additionally, CMS has designated OurLegacy to provide organ and tissue donation services to all non-AdventHealth acute care and critical access hospitals and free-standing emergency rooms in the following counties: Brevard, Flagler, Indian River, Lake, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia. The Tissue Recovery Coordinator (TRC) conducts all aspects of OurLegacy's deceased donor tissue recovery process for all medically suitable tissue donation cases arising in each of the following AdventHealth Central Florida hospitals: Altamonte Springs, Apopka, Celebration, Daytona Beach, Deland, East Orlando, Fish Memorial, Palm Coast, Kissimmee, Orlando, Waterman and Winter Park. Additionally, OurLegacy provides tissue recovery services to non-AdventHealth hospitals in the following counties: Brevard, Flagler Indian River, Lake, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia. For deaths occurring at each of these hospitals, the TRC is responsible to understand and comply with OurLegacy tissue donation policies and protocols for donor screening, evaluation, authorization, physical examination, surgical recovery and transportation. The TRC must have mastery of tissue donor criteria to ensure all authorized tissue cases conform to eligibility criteria established by OurLegacy and its tissue processing partners. To ensure the safety, usability and effectiveness of all donated tissues, the TRC performs the surgical procedure to remove donated tissue and must possess exceptional training and skill to remove deceased donor bone, skin, heart valves, saphenous veins, ligaments, tendons and other tissues so they are usable for transplantation. The TRC applies knowledge of required regulatory requirements to document all aspects of the surgical recovery procedure and safely transport all recovered tissue to the processing partner. The TRC must have mastery of OurLegacy and tissue processing partner policies; State of Florida laws; Federal laws and regulations; and American Association of Tissue Banking (AATB) standards and ensure compliance with same. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accept responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
- Maintains 24 hours on call responsibility and responds promptly to all donor referrals and pages.
- Demonstrates complete understanding of the legal requirements for authorization to donation.
- Evaluates potential tissue donor referrals by collecting medical/social information from all available sources and screens all referrals based on OurLegacy policy or with the appropriate processing facility.
- Coordinates, conducts and supervises the surgical recovery of all consented tissues in accordance with OurLegacy policy, State of Florida laws; Federal laws and regulations; and American Association of Tissue Banking (AATB) standards and ensure compliance with same.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :
