• The community you will be caring for : AdventHealth Palm Coast Pkwy - 1 ADVENTHEALTH WAY, Palm Coast, 32137 The role you will contribute : Performs complex diagnostic and analytic testing of laboratory specimens and interprets data. The value you will bring to the team : PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
• Reads, examines, and interprets complex test results
• Serves as a resource and addresses complex tests / procedures
• Manages instrument maintenance and troubleshooting practices
• Leads quality control and quality assurance testing
• Assists with data collection and special projects, as assigned
• Assists with department orientation and trains medical laboratory staff
• Performs assigned pre-analytical activities related to laboratory testing, which may include general and analytical equipment maintenance, function checks and documentation; specimen collection as needed; biological specimen processing; cleaning and disinfection of selected or assigned laboratory equipment and spaces; quality control and calibration performance; and other pre-analytical activities
• Performs all expected tests and analytical procedures for assigned department or work area efficiently and accurately, according to established procedures, performance standards, and departmental competency standards. Participates in proficiency testing, consistently adhering to federal and state regulations as well as Institutional policies
• Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed : EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
• Bachelor's degree medical technology or related sciences with appropriate state licensure if required or appropriate national certification
• Two years of technical experience (Five years preferred)
• Must hold a certification from one of the following Medical Laboratory Scientist (American Society for Clinical Pathology), or Medical Technologist (American Society for Clinical Pathology), or Medical Technologist (American Medical Technologist), or Medical Technologist (American Associate of Bioanalyst) If required by facility licensed in specialty of microbiology AND / OR, serology / immunology AND / OR, chemistry, hematology AND / OR, immunohematology AND / OR, histocompatibility AND / OR, blood banking AND / OR, molecular pathology EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED :
• Technical skills and aptitudes related to the laboratory testing, procedures and processes performed in department or work area assigned
• Follows and ensures adherence of staff, to the Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies; protects confidentiality of patient information and results at all times
• Knowledge of laboratory rules and regulations including : AABB, CAP, CLIA
• Ability to work independently and adapt to varying priorities, including directing workflow with minimal supervision
• Ability to maintain equipment / records and perform quality assessment activities
• Ability to operate computer systems to maintain patient documentation, testing records, and other related documents
• Ability to educate and train new staff in medical laboratory settings
• Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
