The Urgent Care Physician, an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), collaborates with a medical care management team to provide comprehensive patient care. Responsibilities include diagnosing conditions, formulating treatment plans, and responding to critical situations while ensuring compliance with health regulations. This role emphasizes health education, wellness promotion, and maintaining patient records.
The Role you'll contribute :
The APRN functions as a member of the medical care management team for physician practice patients (surgical and non-surgical). The ARNP may diagnose medical conditions, plan and implement treatment collaboratively agreed to in the Florida Hospital Physician Group medical staff delineation of clinical privileges for Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners.
Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities :
- Provide services similar to those of a physician including but not limited to :
- Examine patients, take medical histories, maintain patient records, identify health risk factors, prescribe medications, make referrals and otherwise treat health conditions.
- Formulates and implements a treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the designated primary supervising physician and / or attending back-up physician(s) and documents as necessary.
- Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, explaining the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient's family, staff, and healthcare learners.
- Focus on patient wellness and disease prevention /
- Provide health education services and / or counsel patients on how to make healthy lifestyle choices
- Participate in code blue and rapid response teams to provide immediate critical care support.
- Procedures performed, but no not limited to, insertion and management of arterial catheters, central venous caterers, pulmonary artery catheters, chest tubes and other procedures commensurate with an ICU environment, CPR; airway management including bag and mask ventilation, endotracheal intubation and extubation, repositioning endotracheal tubes; and defibrillation.
- Directing administration of life supporting drugs according to established protocols
- Performs and participates in quality / performance improvement activities, process enhancements, regulatory compliance, and clinical research
- Will need to work weekdays, weekends, nights and holidays
