Job Summary:
Provides behavioral health assessments, diagnosis and treatment, as well as discharge planning to and consultation about patients and families to assist them and the health care team in coping with patient's hospitalization, illness, diagnosis and treatment, including emotional, mental, and substance abuse disorders.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor’s): Required
- Master’s Degree in counseling or equivalent combination of education/experience: Required
- Three years' experience to include crisis intervention, individual and group therapy: Preferred
- Experience in working with behavioral health clients providing direct assessment, diagnosis formulation, treatment planning, treatment intervention and education to members and/or family members: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC): Required
Essential Functions:
- Provides behavioral health assessments of patients to identify problems that can be resolved usually through refining and changing the patient's decision making process.
- Formulates, develops and implements a comprehensive plan utilizing appropriate treatments and interventions. Provides crisis intervention, brief and long-term individual, marital, family and/or group therapies as well as grief and bereavement work.
- Participates in multidisciplinary healthcare teams and provides leadership in representing a professional counseling based mental therapy perspective with patients and families.
- Documents assessment plans, interactions and interventions according to departmental, hospital and/or health system guidelines and standards.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
