Job Summary:
Assists in providing direct, and in-direct patient care under direction of appropriate personnel or leadership (e.g. registered nurses and providers). Provides individualized care plan for patient presentation. Acts as a clinical resource for students, those being oriented and volunteers.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
- Valid Driver’s License (DL) and must be at least 21 years of age or older: Required in CA
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or National Emergency Medical Tech (NEMT): Required
Essential Functions:
- Provides individualized care plan for patient presentation within the EMT scope of practice.
- Collects, records and communicates basic patient data, current and changing status as needed.
- Cleans, inspects, assembles and sterilizes trays and equipment in accordance with established departmental procedures.
- Takes immediate and appropriate action upon occurrence of emergency situation within job description and policies.
- Participates in continuing/advanced education which demonstrates employee commitment to improving capabilities.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
