Job Summary:
Performs a variety of admitting and clerical duties to facilitate processing and scheduling of patients for the Medical Imaging department. Coordinates film storage and filing for the department. Assists radiologists as necessary to maintain department throughput.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
- Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Medical insurance experience: Preferred
Essential Functions:
- Processes managed care referrals and sends to managed care claims department. Checks messages for pended back referrals and corrects information as needed. Responds to patient and/or specialists requests for referrals.
- Communicates patient needs/information to specialist/provider offices. Communicates with insurance companies regarding authorization for referrals. Documents authorization and follow up referral information in computer and patient record as appropriate.
- Opens, processes, and distributes mail daily. Maintains an organized and prioritized workload and responsibility for excellent customer service and patient satisfaction.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
