Job Summary:
Participates in an 18-week Medical Assistant Training Program and engages in and attends educational opportunities through Adventist Health. Works with instructors and preceptors to complete the 18-week program which includes instructor led lectures, in-person labs, independent study hours, competency examinations, skills checks and clinical hours with a preceptor. Medical Assistants in training may also perform non-invasive, routine, technical support services under the specific authorization and supervision of a licensed physician, podiatrist, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or nurse midwife. Upon completion of the program, Medical Assistants in training will be eligible to sit for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant exam.

Education and Work Experience:
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
Licenses/Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) Health Care Provider certification: Required
Essential Functions:
- Actively participates in all educational components of the training program.
- Seeks guidance from instructors and preceptors to enhance skills and competencies related to the Medical Assisting role
- Sets up exam rooms and checks in patients. Maintains a patient recall system, including continuity of care log for lab tests, referrals, and transfers.
- Obtains vital signs. Reports significant findings and pertinent patient observations to clinic physician. Performs venipunctures as ordered.
- Performs audiometry and vision testing.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
