Job Summary:
Provides pre-surgery services to patients by coordinating testing, providing instructions and maintaining medical records. Administers pre-surgery care by obtaining blood and urine specimens. Performs clerical functions.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
- Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Experience in electrocardiogram (EKG): Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC Health Care Provider certification: Required
- Phlebotomy Certification: Preferred
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates patient testing, instruction and record keeping with Pre-surgery Orientation team.
- Obtains blood specimens via venipuncture or capillary punctures. Obtains urine specimens and insures delivery.
- Assists with answering phones, filing, and faxing. Enters patient information from computer systems.
- Maintains and cleans supplies needed for laboratory procedures and electrocardiogram (ECG.)
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
