The Adventist Health organization is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a nursing position in Atascadero, California.
This role will be located at the Adventist Health Twin Cities facility in Templeton, which has been serving northern San Luis Obispo County since 1977. The hospital is equipped with a 122-bed acute care facility and offers various medical, surgical, and outpatient services including emergency medicine, orthopedics, obstetrics, digestive disorders, wound care, and more.
Job Summary
The ideal candidate will orientate to planning, coordination, and provision of nursing care to patients on the critical care setting. This includes supervising and delegating care responsibilities to ancillary personnel while maintaining knowledge and skills applicable to the care of patients with multi-system failure, neuro/trauma, respiratory failure, and hemodynamic monitoring.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Orientates to critical care nursing knowledge and skills applicable to but not limited to the care of patients with multi system failure requiring ventilation, neuro / trauma, respiratory failure, and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Provides appropriate nursing interventions in stable and emergent patient situations.
- Is competent in all routine nursing skills including medication administration, intravenous therapy, care & maintenance of indwelling catheters & drains, and safe use of medical equipment used in the critical care setting.
- Accurately interprets ECG rhythm and manages care of patients during life-threatening emergencies in populations served.
- Demonstrates knowledge/skill regarding the care and management of patients requiring ICP and ventriculostomy monitoring, Pulmonary Artery Monitoring Catheters, Arterial Pressure Monitoring Catheters, mechanical ventilation, and other ventilatory support devices.
- Initiates a multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plan for each patient in collaboration with members of the healthcare team and provides care based on that plan.
- Educates patients and/or their families regarding care.
- Completes legible, accurate, and timely documentation of all nursing care provided.
- Consistently performs necessary unit-specific safety & quality control checks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with Critical Care Nursing course in progress.
- Current RN license in state of practice.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within 1 year of hire or transfer into the department.
