Job Summary:
Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. Functions as Scrub Technician when needed. Coordinate, manage, provide and delegate patient care. Responsible for meeting the established Standards of Nursing Practice, and promoting cooperation among the health care team. This position is represented by CNA.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Graduate of a school of nursing: Required
- One-year recent acute care RN experience in an operating room: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current RN license in state of practice: Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support): Required within 30 days of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS OR HS-PALS OR RQIPALS) certification: Required within 30 days of hire
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Healthstream Advanced Cardiac Life Support (HS-ACLS) or RQIACLS: Required
Essential Functions:
- Assures patients’ personal needs are met. Assist in reducing noise level of nursing unit. Participates in Lean Daily Management practices.
- Shows a commitment to co-workers. Works as a team to assure all patients have their needs met. Maintains patient, co-worker, and hospital privacy.
- Documentation is clear, concise, and legible. Delivers a clear, concise report. Completes assigned quality monitors as directed by department manager. Follows infection control guidelines. Obtains history/physical assessment according to unit specific nursing protocol for all age groups. Reviews medical history, physical examination, and all available assessment data. Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and reports to appropriate person. Provides information needed to begin discharge planning in a timely manner, and to the appropriate personnel. Recognizes signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress, or other impending emergencies. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to effectively function in Code Blue and other emergency situations. Accurately administers and charts medications according to hospital policies and procedures adhering to patient’s rights. Implements and /or assists others in implementation and documentation of planned education. Assesses patient’s educational needs.
- Assist in the development and education of new staff members. Attends and participates in staff meetings. Completes education, training, and competencies for department specific skills. Successfully adapts to changes in the unit, environment, and work flow.
- Assures all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly. Utilizes department resources appropriately. Minimizes incidental overtime.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
