This position is a hybrid position located in Portland, Oregon and the salary range is $19.53 - $29.26/hour.

Job Summary:
Acts in a pivotal role in guiding patients through the complexities of healthcare costs, insurance coverage, and financial assistance programs. Acts as a subject matter expert by providing specialized support in completing, submitting, and securing approvals for financial assistance applications. Serves as a primary resource for patient inquiries, ensuring clarity and accessibility in financial options. Collaborates with the patient financial services customer service team, offering expert cross-coverage and support to enhance the overall patient financial experience.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
- Associate’s/Technical Degree in healthcare administration, business administration, finance or accounting or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Three years' experience in medical office, financial services, medical billing, or healthcare financial assistance: Required
Essential Functions:
- Educates patients on healthcare costs, insurance coverage, and available financial assistance programs to ensure they understand their financial responsibilities and options.
- Assists patients in completing, submitting, and tracking financial assistance applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements. Determines approval decisions on financial assistance applications and apply necessary adjustment(s) to patient balances.
- Maintains accurate financial records, ensures compliance with healthcare regulations, and upholds patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and other policies.
- Serves as the primary resource for patients with questions regarding financial assistance, insurance claims, and billing concerns.
- Provides customer service support. Meets with patients both in person and virtually to review their financial assistance questions and to assist with completion of financial assistance applications.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
