Job Summary:
Assists in verification and documentation of patient hospital benefits obtained from insurance companies and managed care companies. Assists patients with financing all or part of their hospital stay, preferably prior to the patient’s scheduled admission for treatment. Deals competently, efficiently, and routinely with all patients and their accounts.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
- Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Two years' healthcare experience: Preferred
- Experience in clerical and insurance billing: Preferred
Essential Functions:
- Obtains information affecting patient admissions and directs information to and from hospital and physician offices.
- Acts as a liaison between hospital and insurance companies, verifying information and patient status.
- Receives surgery hard-copies and information and contacts the patients and physician offices if a deposit is required at time of admission.
- Obtains insurance benefits authorization and proper verification.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
