Job Summary:
Provides supervision for the department's production line staff. Oversees catering and cafeteria operations, the ordering and food production operations and supervising the activities of the department. Serves as working supervisor for team or work group using comprehensive knowledge of a seasoned professional. Provides technical leadership while performing escalated or complex duties. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
- Master's Degree: Preferred
- Five years' technical experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Certified Professional Food Manager certification: Preferred
Essential Functions:
- Directs, supervises and coordinates staff activities throughout the shift to ensure proper workflow and procedures are being followed. Establishes daily work schedules, and adjusts work schedules/assignments when required to maintain adequate coverage and fills in for other staff, as needed.
- Continually evaluates food quality and makes recommendations communicating desired changes in an educational non-punitive manner. Actively participates and provides creative input in the development and implementation of projects. Assists department director in cash management.
- Oversees quality and maintenance of tray line, refrigerator, and freezer. Ensures quality of foods and correct portioning served on tray line and in the cafeteria, making adjustments as necessary.
- Responds to electronic monitoring food storage temperature alerts. Assures food temperatures are taken correctly and documented for the cafeteria and tray line.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
