Location Summary:
Nestled on the Central California Coast, Adventist Health Sierra Vista has been providing care to our community since 1959. Our 162-bed acute care facility includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and county designated trauma center. Position Summary:
Review EMR regularly to notify RNs of orders to be initiated. Assists physicians with computerized order entry, monitors electronic patient charts for new and urgent orders, Provides clerical support to nursing staff for smooth operation of the nursing unit under the supervision of the shift Charge Nurse, including transcribes physician orders if required. Interacts with staff, physicians, patients and families on the phone and on the Unit in a knowledgeable and understanding manner.
Required License/Certifications:
- BLS through the American Heart Association
Knowledge and Skills:
Desired Training/Education/Experience/Certification: (1) Previous experience as a Unit Clerk/Assistant in a hospital setting, (2) Previous computer order entry experience. Must have working knowledge of basic medical terminology and be computer literate. Must be able to decipher physician orders and complete requisitions. Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment. Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential. Must be fluent in spoken and written English. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
