Position Summary:
The IT Technology Specialist requires a high degree of technical and customer service skills. This position provides for IT technical support and troubleshooting for employees of the Ministry through phone, remote, and onsite hardware and software support and is critical to the smooth operation of the Ministry. This position also plays a role in researching, advising, and sourcing existing and new technology for the improvement and efficiency of the computer infrastructure. It is crucial that this position supports the mission and values of It Is Written by exemplifying the values and beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in all interactions.
Authority & Accountability:
Authority as delegated by and accountable to the Director of Information Technology in accordance with It Is Written’s policies and objectives.
Essential Position Functions:
- Diagnose and resolve software and hardware issues, including operating systems (Windows and Mac) and across a range of software applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents with printers, copiers and scanners.
- Install hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers and docking stations following installation specifications.
- Provide support for telecommunications, building access, and internet availability.
- Maintain and manage IT processes related to new hire, promotion, and termination of Ministry staff.
- Assist employees by troubleshooting software at a highly professional level.
- Analyze and identify symptoms of a problem to provide an end-to-end solution.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of existing and new hardware, software, and other IT-related resources.
- Provide guidance to fellow team members as an IT subject matter expert.
- Support the file-based work flows of a modern media producing company.
- Install, setup, and troubleshoot virtual private network (VPN) connections.
- Assist users with password resets and server access.
- Maintain and configure the phone server to ensure proper phone service.
- Research new hardware and software to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of IT equipment and the end users’ experience.
- Advise the Director on equipment needs to maintain appropriate operating conditions and manage IT equipment life cycle.
- Assist the Director with establishing an annual capital budget for new and replacement IT equipment.
- Collaborate with other team members in the office environment to learn, support, encourage, improve, and complete tasks and duties.
- Be available to meet in person for IT team meetings, project meetings, and in collaboration with team members from other departments.
- Fulfill other related responsibilities and duties as assigned.

- Education:
- A high school diploma, or equivalent, is required.
- A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science is preferred.
