As we take our business into the next 50 years, we have identified the need to expand our procurement team to drive our customer experience though improved product planning and materials sourcing.
Adventurer Manufacturing is looking for someone who is passionate about work and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. A Senior Buyer is responsible for managing all aspects of purchasing components from suppliers in order to assure timely delivery of parts to support production needs, managing positive vendor relationships and maintaining a focus on vendor performance to ensure competitive pricing and quality products.
Purpose:
Provide excellent sourcing, vendor management, and inventory management practices that deliver results in supporting company objectives in Cost, Quality and Schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Strategically assist in mentorship/development of junior team members
- Own and manage assigned vendor partner relationships
- Support NPI (new product introduction) by working with engineering team to source new components that meet quality, pricing, and lead time requirements.
- Lead strategic projects in purchasing and sourcing as directed by management.
- Create and maintain comprehensive research and documentation on key vendors in each assigned product category to ensure optimal selection of vendor partners with respect to critical performance indicators (lead time, product availability, product quality, vendor flexibility, vendor service level, and business performance/outlook)
- Participate in training, user acceptance testing, and implementation of new ERP system (Infor Syteline)
- Review assigned SKU's annually to ensure current vendor selection, is optimal with respect to quality, price, and lead time requirements.
- Run and review MRP reports daily placing POs and expediting POs as needed to ensure material availability for production requirements.
- Proactively work to resolve/escalate any material shortages to ensure no interruption of manufacturing operations.
- Work with quality and production teams to resolve any quality issues stemming from assigned vendor partners.
- Monitor and track all vendor level KPIs (Service Levels, OTIF, Quality, Price, Lead Time, and Flexibility) for assigned vendor partners
- Schedule and lead annual vendor review meetings with assigned vendor partners
- Work with purchasing manager to aggressively pursue cost savings opportunities for assigned SKU's including vendor re-negotiations, SKU consolidation, make vs buy analysis, and alternative sourcing activities
- Own and manage inventory levels for all assigned SKU's (DOH, lead time, MOQ, slow moving/obsolete inventory)
- Ensure accuracy of system planning parameters for all vendors and SKU's.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience buying/sourcing in a discrete manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or BA in related field or equivalent number of years of experience (10-years or more).
- RV industry experience preferred.
- Previous experience with Infor Syteline preferred
- APICS certification preferred.
