Corporate Staff Accountant – Real Estate (Semi-Remote)
A successful Midtown Manhattan commercial real estate owner/ operator seeks a Staff Corporate Accountant to join their dynamic team. This is a highly visible supervisory role that will be responsible for maintaining all corporate accounting functions.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Corporate Controller, to oversee the month-end and year-end accounting close processes for corporate entities.
- Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial statements including Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Trial Balance on a monthly and yearly basis to ensure accuracy of the balances.
- Coordinate quarterly distributions and trust reporting.
- Manage communication with investors.
- Assist with budget preparation, forecasting and variance analysis for corporate entities.
- Manage bank reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, and journalize transactions.
- Manage the monthly depreciations and amortization schedules.
- Ensure accuracy of billing of leasing commissions, as well as management and service fees.
- Assist with preparation of periodic commercial rent and other tax filings.
- Perform day-to-day input and verification of accounts payable invoices in Yardi.
- Research and resolve vendor issues or discrepancies.
- Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants on year-end financial statements and tax returns.
- Assist in managing inter-companies and other duties assigned by the Controller.
Qualifications:
- BA in Accounting / Finance or relevant discipline.
- 2 years of experience in general accounting, real estate firm experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Yardi accounting software a plus.
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment.
- Be able to multi-task and be a team player.
Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000 plus bonus, 401k match, comprehensive employer paid health benefits, generous PTO, and other valuable perks.
