The Company:
ADVICS Manufacturing Ohio, Inc. is a leading OEM automotive supplier located in Lebanon, Ohio (just North of Kings Island). We manufacture the highest quality and most competitive disc brake components. By utilizing the Just-In-Time production model we are able to identify and solve problems efficiently at virtually every step of the manufacturing process. ADVICS meets challenges before they arise allowing us to produce "world class" quality calipers, antilock braking systems and electric parking brake.
The Role:
As part of a team, a Production Operator is responsible for meeting safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals in the assigned area.
Core Responsibilities:
- Identifies and corrects unsafe acts or conditions as they arise.
- Performs quality inspections and measurements according to standards, and records data.
- Recognizes quality problems and takes appropriate corrective action.
- Participates in continuous improvement activities.
- Performs preventative maintenance and start up checks to standards.
- Recognizes and corrects machine problems, and assists Maintenance Technicians as needed.
- Monitors machine performance, and as necessary, takes appropriate action to adjust.
- Performs line changeovers and tool changes as required.
- Performs 5-S and cleanup activities as needed, and at designated times.
- Ensures that team standards are being followed, and productivity and quality goals met.
- Keeps team leaders and supervisors informed of problems within the area.
- Works overtime on a daily and/or weekend basis based off the needs of the company.
- Operators may be assigned to any area within the manufacturing process. Essential duties and responsibilities specific to each area include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
MACHINING:
- Loads and unloads castings into machines, and machines castings per standards and within established cycle times working with CNC mills, lathes, and multi-drills.
PLATING:
- Loads machined castings onto plating racks per standards.
- Unloads machined and plated castings from plating racks and places parts into appropriate containers for delivery to the Assembly area.
- Monitors, tests, and maintains the correct chemical balance of the plating process.
- Transfers production materials from the machining areas, through zinc plating, and to the assembly areas using an electric cart and following the Kanban flow.
ASSEMBLY:
- Loads and unloads machined and plated castings and component parts into PLC machines, and manually assembles calipers per standards and within established cycle times.
- Transfers finished goods to appropriate containers.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and understand documents such as safety, operating, and maintenance standards and procedures which are written in English.
- Ability to record data and communicate clearly both verbally, and in writing.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
- Ability to function in a team environment by working with, and cooperating with others. Ability to participate in team activities and to give and receive feedback in a positive manner.
