What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time Smoking Monitor position at AdviniaCare Eastpointe (2)?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Smoking Monitor is responsible for maintaining the safety of residents while smoking and ensuring that smoking is occurring safely and in accordance with facility policies. The Smoking Monitor must be able to understand and follow policy and procedure of the facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Smoking Monitor performs varied activities in accordance with the facility smoking policy
- Monitors facility smokers per the facility documentation
- Completes smoking monitor log during all shifts; sign off and turn in to activity room
- Performs beginning/ending inventory and accounts for cigarettes disbursed
Accounts for inventory of cart as follows:
- Smoking box with key
- Masks
- Aprons
- Fire blanket
- Gloves
- Fire extinguisher
- Communication device
- Documentation log
- Resident cigarettes are labeled and are specifically for that resident. In the event a resident shares or lends cigarettes, it must be documented and approved by the lender
- The Smoking Monitor maintains a clean/safe environment for all residents
- Constantly observes the safety of the residents smoking
- Maintains environment of care (include safety log)
- Checks equipment daily – Aprons, Fire Blanket (no holes)
- Is aware of facility fire disaster policy
- Keeps the box locked at all times
- Box and cart are kept in a neat and orderly fashion
- Patient transfer- Contacts the unit for patient transport when patient is ready to return
- Reports any safety issues or behavioral concerns to appropriate personnel ie. Activities Director, Director of Social Services or Administrator
- During weekend hours, reports any issues to Administrator on Duty or Nursing Supervisor
- During inclement weather, monitors and ensures all residents are properly dressed. If not, reports to Activities Director and Director of Social Services
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be punctual
- Wears: White shirt, Black pants
- Footwear in accordance with footwear policy
- Coat, gloves, hat, boots, rain gear- during inclement weather
