Advocacy Initiative for Development (AID) relies on external fundraising to build organizational capacity and embark on capital and operating projects. The Director of Donor Realations leads fundraising efforts and coordinates special finance campaigns. This often involves meeting with individual donors, seeking the support of corporate sponsorship and tapping organizational constituents for individual donations.
The Director of Donor Relations is a senior volunteer within AID responsible for developing and implementing fundraising startegies, managing donor relations, and overseeing fundraising operations. - Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to meet and exceed fundraising goals.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and grant-making organizations.
- Plan and executive fundraising events, including galas, auctions, charity walks, and other campaigns, to generate funds and engage donors.
- Write compelling grant proposals and funding applications, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and donor requirements.
- Conduct thorough research to identify new funding opportunities and stay updated on current trends and practices in non profit fundraising.
- Maintain a donor database and track all fundraising activities, donor communications, and contributions.
- Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to create and distribute fundraising materials, including appeals, newsletters, and annual reports.
- Cultivate and steward relationships with existing donors, ensuring timely and personalized acknowledgements, updates, and impact reports.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including board members, volunteers, and community partners, to support fundraising efforts.
- Monitor and evaluate fundraising activities, analyzing outcomes, and making recommendations for improvement to maximize effectiveness.
- Develop and build a team of fundraising interns to assist with carrying out the finance department mission.
