The position of Community Bridger is based in Rocky Hill, Connecticut, with statewide travel a requirement. Community Bridger offers brief, transitional peer support to people aged eighteen and older who are currently involved or at risk for being involved in psychiatric services. Community Bridgers are not expected to be members of a treatment team nor take on the role of case management or crisis workers. FULL-TIME NON-EXEMPT EMPLOYMENT: 37.5 regularly scheduled hours per week, not to exceed 40 hours. $26.00 per hour. 180-day introductory period with performance evaluation at the conclusion of this period. Inclusive of benefits outlined in the Advocacy Unlimited Personnel Handbook.
REPORTS TO: Peer Recovery Services Director
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Assist the Director of PRS with documentation and reporting on behalf of the Bridger team.
Onsite in Rocky Hill 1.5 days during the regular business week.
Submit Bridger supply order and track expenses.
Handle referrals.
Communicate frequently with the AU Administrative Assistant regarding status of referral on behalf of the Bridger team.
Model recovery with collective care, accountability, and ethics.
Provide 1:1 peer support to at least 25 people living in Connecticut, annually, and no more than 15 people, concurrently.
Meet with participants who are incarcerated or hospitalized and maintain connection following discharge.
Meet with participants in the community and provide transportation, as needed.
Share about Bridger as a peer recovery community resource through community outreach.
Provide presentation in the community, as requested, and submit follow-up documentation.
Develop relationships with community resources and other supports.
Assist participants to create recovery plans and move toward achieving goals.
Maintain up to date and accurate records of all work-related activities.
Meet all internal accountability standards.
Adhere to all contractual obligations.
Participate in team meetings and training.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field of study, or equivalent work experience
Certified Recovery Support Specialist, or eligible for certification
EXPERIENCE
Direct experience offering support to people and community groups from diverse backgrounds
Personal experience receiving services in the psychiatric system, as a trauma survivor, substance use recovery, being
unhoused, and/or other similar life-interrupting challenges
Motivated to advance collaborative decision making and collective accountability
Ability to think strategically, creatively solve problems, exercise good judgment and lead
High proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Must have a clean driving record, up to date Motor Vehicle Insurance and Driver’s License
Must have a reliable vehicle for statewide travel
