Teacher Assistant - Head Start – Fond du Lac
ADVOCAP’s Head Start program is accepting applications for a Teacher Assistant for our 2024/2025 program year! Head Start prepares children ages 3-5 with quality early childhood education in Fond du Lac and Green Lake counties. We help families reach financial, career, and educational goals, while building resilience and confidence for the entire family. This position will need to have a welcoming and friendly personality to ensure comfortability in working with kids and families that align with our core mission and values for all employees. This position is responsible for taking direction from the assigned Classroom Teacher to ensure the effective implementation of and compliance with ADVOCAP Head Start operational procedures and curriculum. This individual will provide communication and support to the Teacher and Program Aide.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assist in monitoring child health and safety
- Assist in ensuring that assigned classroom scores a minimum of 5 on the Early Childhood Environmental rates scales (ECERS)
- Ensures the safety and security of children and families that you come in contact with in assigned Center
- Ensures the implementation of all ADVOCAP Head Start Operational Procedures within the scope of your assigned classroom and spaces within the facility
- Attend home visits, parent conferences, and IEP meetings as requested by Teacher
- Assist in providing strategies to support children who are English language learners and their families
- Attend professional development and ongoing training as required
Job Requirements:
- High school degree or GED or HSED and 19 – 24 months of previous work experience is required to meet job standards.
- Must possess Early Childhood (EC) 1 at time of hire
- Must complete CDA within 18 months of hire
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and travel occasionally up to 10% of time using a personal vehicle
- CPR certified or willing to obtain
- Physical/tb/drug screen and comprehensive background check required
- Reliable attendance and a professional work ethic
Salary and Benefits:
These full-time positions will begin mid to late August and will work 36 hours per week, Monday—Thursday with occasional Fridays and weekends. Starting pay is $17.30 per hour. These positions are for the program year, with summers off. Benefits include health, dental, vision, life, short- and long-term disability, vacation, sick and holiday pay, and our employer contribution 401k.
