Responsibilities:
- Perform duties in the scrub role as assigned.
- Assist in emergency situations as assigned.
- Maintain a safe work environment according to regulatory agency standards.
- Prepare sterile field in a timely manner.
- Comply with departmental policy and procedures regarding specimens, counts, and disposition of contaminated instruments.
- Maintain sterile field and boundaries prior to and during procedure.
- Act as preceptor, sharing knowledge in a supportive/educational manner.
Licensure:
- Surgical Technologist Certification
Education/Experience Required:
- 1-2 years OR scrub experience (preferred)
- High school graduate or GED
- Completion of ST program in an accredited school approved by NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) or NCCT
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Good communication skills
- Ability to independently perform scrub duties
- CPR certification
- CST Certification approved by NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening disease and radiation
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to cooperate and work well with others
