Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain complex ultrasound equipment to perform a range of diagnostic procedures, ensuring accurate results and maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Review patient medical records, identifying necessary clinical information and comparing requisitions with physician orders to ensure exam accuracy.
- Position patients and select proper transducers and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures, adjusting as needed to attain optimal images.
- Analyze sonograms, synthesizing sonographic information and medical history to communicate findings to appropriate physicians.
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with regulatory agencies, entering patient and study information into the radiology information system and documenting billing codes for procedures performed.
- Identify equipment performance issues, communicating with staff and evaluating new products and equipment for possible future use.
Requirements
- Registration or certification in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS) with specialty credentials in Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Vascular required within three months of hire.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required within six months of hire.
- Advanced training beyond high school in Sonography from an accredited program.
- No prior experience required, but willingness to learn and adapt to changing situations essential.
