About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Computed Tomography Technologist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health.
Job Summary
- The successful candidate will be responsible for operating CT equipment to perform diagnostic procedures, obtaining medical history from patients, and comparing requisitions to physicians' orders.
- They will also be required to position patients, select proper scanning factors, adjust factors to attain the appropriate images, and provide radiation protection and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Competently operate CT equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures.
- Obtain medical history from patients and compare requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
- Position patients and select proper scanning factors, adjusting factors to attain the appropriate images.
- Provide radiation protection and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies.
- Prepare and administer contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist, and assist in the proper scanning techniques.
- Post-process images as directed and accurately identify and label images identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
- Prepare and maintain records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enter patient and study information into the radiology information system.
- Document billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
- Identify equipment performance issues and perform equipment quality assurance tests and calibration procedures.
- Report malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff and evaluate new products and equipment.
