Job Description for Radiology Technologist
We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
- Job Type: Ongoing, 32 hours per week, flexible shift

Main Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Positioning and image critique
- Competently position patients for all exams
- Perform problem-solving as it relates to physical limitations of patients during patient positioning
- Competently perform image reviews to determine if more views are necessary to complete the exam
- Select and adjust technical factors governing the imaging process
- Identify artifacts on images and assist in problem-solving
- Maintain a minimum amount of repeat work
- Annual competencies
- Competent operation in understanding of equipment and safety
- Able to operate equipment in a competent manner
- Modify technical factors as situation warrants
- Perform start-up and shut-down procedures on all equipment
- Ensure that images are labeled and marked correctly
- Inspect equipment on a daily basis
- Report any malfunctions to the leader. If the leader is unavailable, contact proper ACE for repairs if needed.
- Perform problem-solving as the situation warrants; e.g., equipment malfunctions and physical limitations of equipment
- Handle all equipment with care
- Surgical: For c-arm cases, send key images to PACS, enter orders as appropriate, arrive, begin, and end the exam in the Epic System.
- Perform CT scans independently once trained.
- Delivery of Patient Care
- Responsible for the welfare and care of all patients directly under their control; e.g., implementation of immobilization devices as necessary for their safety and comfort
- Secure history from patients and record on an appropriate form for the radiologist
- PACS, EMR, and other software
- Demonstrate the ability to arrive, begin, and end studies in the EMR, as well as able to enter outside orders as appropriate
- Demonstrate the ability to utilize Modality Worklist/or select patient in Modality, acquire, and send images from the modality to PACS
- Demonstrate the ability to log into PACS and retrieve the appropriate study
- Carry out the QC process for the images in PACS.
- Select the correct buttons for prior exams and availability
- Determine if pertinent priors are available in PACS
- Ensure the image link is available and working in the EMR
- Notify the PACS Administrator or assistant of any issues they are not able to resolve
- General troubleshooting; e.g., splitting and merging studies, changing accession numbers
- Ability to use iPad interpretation services
- Participates in professional development
- Attend and participate in department meetings
- Maintain required amounts of CME credits
- Maintain current ARRT certification/registration and state licensure
- Participate in problem-solving that would improve quality for the department
- Maintain CPR certification
- Provide direction to new staff and staff in need of assistance
- Contribute to performance goals of the department
- Other Duties
- Stock rooms as needed
- Assist others as needed
- Participate in patient education
- Participate in QC/QA testing; notify supervisor when testing has exceeded the boundaries
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience Required:
Graduate of AMA-approved school/program of Radiologic Technology
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
We require:
- Knowledge of radiology procedures and equipment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Previous outpatient service preferred
- Basic computer skills with proficiency in multiple programs
- Certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or eligible
- Licensed by State of Wisconsin
- Current CPR or maintain within 6 months of hire

- Travel between work assignments if necessary
- Willingness to work overtime

- Flexible in start and end times
- Must be able to travel to any of our 6 x-ray sites and work any shift or day
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when the patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
