Ultrasound Technologist Job Description
- Perform general, vascular and/or cardiac procedures/studies using ultrasound equipment.
- Accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
- Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information.
- Position patients and select proper transducers and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures.
- Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
Responsibilities:
- Operate ultrasound equipment to perform exams.
- Take and develop high-quality images of internal organs and tissues.
- Maintain accurate records of patient information and exam results.
- Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
- Continuously improve knowledge and skills in ultrasound technology.
Requirements:
- Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography.
- Ability to use independent judgment to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
- Ability to carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
- Clear speech, vision and hearing.
