Ultrasound Technologist Job Description

• Perform general, vascular and/or cardiac procedures/studies using ultrasound equipment.
• Accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
• Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information.
• Position patients and select proper transducers and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures.
• Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.

Responsibilities:

• Operate ultrasound equipment to perform exams.
• Take and develop high-quality images of internal organs and tissues.
• Maintain accurate records of patient information and exam results.
• Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
• Continuously improve knowledge and skills in ultrasound technology.

Requirements:

• Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography.
• Ability to use independent judgment to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
• Ability to carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
• Clear speech, vision and hearing.
