Job Overview:
The Maintenance Assistant Director will assist in overseeing the daily operations of the facility's maintenance department, ensuring that the physical environment is properly maintained and safe for both residents and staff. This role requires a proactive approach, leadership abilities, and a strong understanding of the maintenance needs specific to a healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Maintenance Director in managing the overall maintenance operations, including regular inspections and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Supervise, train, and support the maintenance staff, ensuring efficient operation and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Ensure the timely completion of repair requests, addressing issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and general facility maintenance.
- Assist in managing the maintenance budget, ordering supplies, and maintaining inventory of materials and equipment.
- Oversee the facility’s compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to building maintenance and safety standards.
- Ensure the building, grounds, and equipment are maintained in a safe, clean, and efficient condition.
- Assist in conducting safety drills and ensuring the facility is up to code regarding fire prevention and emergency systems.
- Participate in the preparation of facilities for inspections and audits by regulatory bodies.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests as needed, including after-hours coverage.
- Maintain effective communication with the Nursing Home Administrator, department heads, and staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist in preparing reports related to maintenance activities, repairs, and budget updates.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management or related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance management, with at least 2 years in a healthcare or long-term care setting (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of maintenance systems including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs.
- Experience in managing or supervising a team, with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of relevant safety, health, and regulatory standards in healthcare environments.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
