Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caretaker to join our team with 2nd shift, 3rd shift and weekend availability. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for our residents with disabilities and a commitment to providing high-quality care. This role involves ensuring the well-being of our residents, monitoring their health, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. The Caretaker will work closely with other staff members to implement care plans and support the needs of the residents in our facility.
Duties
- Provide daily care for residents, including meal preparation, medication management, supervised community activities, managing and transporting to doctor appointments, housekeeping and socializing.
- Clean and maintain all living spaces to ensure a hygienic environment.
- Monitor the health and behavior of residents, reporting any concerns to coworkers and management.
- Administer medication as directed and assist with any necessary non-nursing type medical treatments.
- Support the implementation of individualized care plans for each resident based on their specific needs.
- Promote resident rights within the facility.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure all activities align with best practices in resident welfare.
- Assist in cooking or preparing special diets as required for specific residents.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with adults with disabilities is preferred, particularly in settings such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities that cater to individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of daily living activities (ADLs) related to resident care is essential.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow care plans accurately.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with team members and visitors.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
