Direct Support Professional - Camden, NY

Advocates is seeking a Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to support a young man with a great sense of humor with a developmental disability and epilepsy.He and his family are looking for a Mentor to assist him with working on his goals both at home and in his community.

Goals include:
Independent living skills- grocery shopping, cooking, personal care tasks
Participating in recreational and community activities

Seeking a DSP who is reliable, enthusiastic, creative, and active.Related experience working with individuals withdisabilitiespreferred but not required.Please respond withresume or summary of experience.

Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address.

Hours and days of work

Two days per week (12 PM - 2:30 PM)

This is a part-time position, but opportunities exist for additional hours with other individuals within the agency.

Pay rate: $20.30 per hour when providing direct support. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $15.50 per hour.

• Education & Experience: GED or High School Diploma preferred. Applicable job experience preferred.
• Desired Skills and Abilities: previous experience working 1:1 in a related service environment preferred. Knowledge of disability related issues preferred.
• Other: The individual does not have the authority to set the staff salary in this model. The Mentor is paid at the providers rate for the service based on an assessment of the specific support needs of the individual in the areas of behavioral support, communication support, and physical support needs.
