Role Description
Advocatia’s Patient Service Representative is responsible for screening patients on-site at hospitals for eligibility assistance programs either bedside, in the ER, or outside the hospital. This includes providing information and reports to client contact(s) and keeping them current on our progress. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Review the hospital census daily to identify patients in need of assistance
· Screen identified patients for state, county, federal, and hospital assistance programs
· Initiate the application process
· Inform the patient of all documentation they will need to complete their application as well as the address and phone number of their local office
· Introduce the patient to Advocatia services and inform them that we will be contacting them as well as the local department on their behalf regularly
· Records all patient information and screening results
· Document screening results and acceptance of patients in the hospital system
· Screen patients on-site when able, if patient unavailable reach patient by phone
· Off-site field visits as required
· Access information for the off-site patient account representatives as needed
· Keep accurate total for daily accounts referred, patients screened, and applications taken
· Report any important occurrences to management as quickly as possible
· Maintain confidentiality of all account information at all times
· Maintain a neat and orderly workplace
· Maintain awareness of and participation in the Corporate Compliance Program
· Maintain a positive working relationship with the hospital staff at all levels
· Maintain a passion for assisting the uninsured and underinsured community
Required Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Reliable transportation
- Must be able to work onsite at a hospital
- Outstanding communication skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- 2 years of customer service experience
- Ability to learn technology
Preferred Qualifications
· Eligibility experience (government or hospital)
· Strong attention to detail
· Healthcare or start-up experience
