Qualifications
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Proceeds with work from plans and specifications, supervising small crews, has knowledge of all electrical equipment and major tools, possessing a journeyman license or equivalent experience. Understands the scope of drawings and demonstrates ability to supervise others in their work performance.
- Directs and works with journeyman and helpers
- Plans work ‑ responsible for materials and tools
- Install all work effectively
- Troubleshoots all electric systems
- Monitors progress of work
- Codes time sheets
- Has knowledge of safety, bending materials, test equipment, conductors, wiring, theory and some NEC information.
- Has knowledge of AC, motor theory, grounding, electrical materials selection and installation, services, contactors, relays and lighting.
- Has knowledge of load calculations, conductor selection, overcurrent protection, wiring devices, distribution equipment and transformers, motor calculation/maintenance/controls, HVAC and hazardous locations.
- Has knowledge of feeder and service load calculations, industrial and specialty lighting, emergency systems, electronic theory, fire alarms, specialty transformers, advanced controls and motor maintenance and high voltage cable.
- Performs all electrical tasks with general supervision, has the ability to terminate cable, install and trouble shoot control wiring from drawings, is able to demonstrate experience factors exceeding an electrical helper and must be sufficient on rough‑in work. A journeyman would normally have this classification for the first year.

- Has passed block test & has at least 24 months experience as a J-1
- Supervises & works with crew
- Troubleshoots motors, controls, circuits & blueprints
- Is proficient in layout & blueprints
