Position
Manufacturing Engineers are responsible for evaluating processes and initiating measures to improve productivity, quality, safety and cost.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement cost reduction measures and performs machine programming as required.
- Perform Safety duties which include assisting in developing safety policies, provide training, and work to help maintain compliance.
- Develops and designs jigs and fixtures to improve production, safety, quality, and output.
- Works with the Team to develop and create procedures to improve safety, quality and output and ensure all equipment is working at optimum performance.
- Monitors plant utilities, material and labor use to find ways for cost savings.
- Oversee production routings and makes necessary changes to improve production time.
- Improves data collection processes and leads F4T and Lean efforts with a positive and encouraging style.
- Assists in identifying the route causes of a problem and instituting corrective action such as changes to operation sheets, generation of Engineering Change Requests, installation of fixtures, changes in workstations, changes to inspection analyses and changes to process procedures.
- Evaluates discrepant hardware in accordance with quality requirements and determines its disposition.
- Interacts with representatives from a variety of functional groups, including design engineering, manufacturing engineering, purchasing and all production and inspection personnel in the assigned product or program area.
- Reviews quality trends to prevent or reduce defects, determine problem causes and initiate actions to correct them, convincing others of the validity of potential solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or must have five to seven years related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, prints, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers along with the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- To perform this job successfully. An individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word Processing software, Microsoft Excel, spreadsheet software, Creo or other CAD software experience is a plus.
