Road and Highway Engineer
We’re hiring a Civil Engineer who’s passionate about designing and improving the transportation infrastructure that keeps people and goods moving. As a Road and Highway Engineer, you’ll plan, design, and deliver safe, efficient, and logical roadway infrastructure ranging from rural highways to urban interchanges.

This Civil Engineer will play a key role in the planning and execution of municipal and transportation projects. You’ll collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technicians to bring innovative roadway and highway infrastructure solutions to life.
What the Road and Highway Engineer Will Do:
- Design and develop roadway and highway plans, including alignments, profiles, grading, and cross-sections
- Prepare construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates for transportation projects
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including traffic, structural, and environmental engineers
- Perform roadway geometric design using AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards including MnDOT and local agency guidelines
- Support project managers with schedules, budgets, and client communication
- Conduct site visits and field assessments to support project development and construction oversight
- Participate in public meetings and collaborate with stakeholders to address community needs and feedback
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Minnesota or on track to become a PE soon
- 3 years of professional design experience with roadway and/or municipal projects
- Experience with MicroStation ORD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or GEOPAK
- Familiarity with MnDOT, counties, and municipalities in Minnesota is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
