In December 2024, United Engineers and Constructors was acquired by Aecon Group Inc. Aecon and United have a proven working relationship and the United team continues to operate in the market as an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company.
This position requires broad knowledge of electrical utility and substation engineering principles and practices acquired through progressive experience and education. This position requires a technical background in protection and controls to develop and implement designs for existing and new transmission and distribution projects. This position requires at least four (4) or more years of electrical controls design experience working for an electrical utility or similar industry.
What You'll Do Here
- Provide engineering and designs of the protection and controls for electrical utility projects.
- Proficiency working on protection and control drawings including one-line diagrams, relay protection, control schematics, instrumentation and alarm schematics, SCADA controls, racks and panels views, wiring diagrams, cable schedules and bill of materials.
- Work collaboratively with electrical layout designers, civil designers, electrical project engineers, system protection engineers, construction supervisors, and construction field personnel.
- Conduct site walkdowns as required to assess field conditions, evaluate and develop scope of work, and meet with client personnel and other stakeholders to collaborate on project requirements.
- Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers and review technical documentation including vendor drawings.
- Participate in technical discussions as needed by the project team(s).
- Be an active participant and contributor to improvements in standards and design processes.
